About

TLDR; I’m an iOS Developer, a husband and a father. I love to learn, I like music and sometimes I go biking. I’m currently working as a consultant at Knowit during the days, Kidpilot during the nights, and sometimes I write something here or post a video on YouTube.

I’m originally from Norrköping but moved to Gothenburg after my university studies in Information Logistics. I’ve been living here for ten years now with my wife Emma, our daughter Saga and our cat.

After my studies I started working as a Web Content Manager at Mecenat, a student discount company. I did content both for web and email but mostly working as link between our market and IT departments. But after a few years I started realizing that it wasn’t for me so I joined Mobile Commerce and App Development, two vocational educations.

I started freelancing with app and web development in 2012-2013 and continued with that for 1,5 years until a consultant company recruited me. Since 2019 I’m working at Knowit as an iOS Developer.

Work

During my freelancing I mostly did small gigs and after awhile I realized that I still had a lot to learn and I wouldn’t get the big clients as a sole developer. Working among people that knows more than yourself is probably one of the best ways to learn and develop. So I joined HiQ where I worked mostly in-house with clients like Volvofinans Bank, Jula, Volvo Cars and Cargill. I had the opportunity to take lead in a few projects, guide junior developers and I also spent a few month working with concept development in the U.S.

I really appreciate the time at HiQ but after my parental leave I felt that it was a good timing to try something else. So I joined Layer Ten Collective, a smaller consultant company, and started working with Volvo Cars. The team I worked with was great and this was the first time I was working with an app of this scale, with this many users and sub-systems, so I learned a lot.

In 2019 I joined Knowit. I’m the first employee within their new sub-company called Knowit Mobile where we will be focusing on mobile app development (Knowit Mobile have actually been around for a while in both Malmö and Stockholm). There where two things that really stood out for me, (1) that all my colleagues will be working with mobile development and (2) I will be a part of the journey of starting a new company. I’m really looking forward to what the coming years will bring.

Over the years I’ve also joined a few side-projects but the one I’ve always stayed with is Kidpilot, where I’m also a co-owner. We have done a few smaller apps for iOS and Mac, like Punch In and Something. Though this year we will be focusing on our newest product Spinn which we’re hoping will be the new standard in online Disc Golf Scoring.

Hobbies

With a full-time job, side-projects and a family I don’t have that much time to spare. But I try to put some time into a few hobbies of mine.

Music is quite a big part of my life. When I was younger I played guitar but nowadays I let other people play and I’m devoting myself to listening instead. In this new era of playlists I still prefer the album format, preferably on vinyl.

I also do some biking. For the last three years I’ve participated in the 300 km race Vätternrundan which forces me to do quite a bit of training, even though I try to convince myself that I enjoy mountain biking even more. I actually enjoy training in general, I’ve spent a lot of hours in the gym back in the days but unfortunately not anymore.

I’ve practice GTD (Getting Things Done) back and forth over the years to keep my life in some kind of order. It may sounds strange that I list this under hobbies, back in the days there where probably not any todo app that I hadn’t tried. I’m actually enjoy trying to organize my life and I’m continuously trying to improve my system.

In 2017 I discovered the documentary Minimalism: A Documentary About the Important Things on Netflix and it opened my mind. How could I get rid of stuff that I actually don’t need to appreciate life even more? I definitely wouldn’t say that I’m a minimalist but I would say that I’ve gotten a different mindset on things.

Minimalism has also let me in to personal growth and development in general. Recently I’ve been trying to figure out how I can get more out of life, be the best I can be and how to contribute to others.
